Prepare an import
QuickBooks CSV checker
Check a bank CSV before uploading it to QuickBooks Online, then choose which fixes to approve. Your corrected download leaves the original untouched, and processing stays local.

Date and number formats are preselected for this fictional March 2026 checking account. Choose both for your own file.
UTF-8 .csv or .txt, up to 5 MB. File contents never leave this tool.
You decide which fixes to keep
After loading or pasting a CSV, confirm its columns, date order and number separators. The checker reads quoted records, not just commas, and reports each record's starting physical line. That's why row numbers can jump when descriptions span multiple lines.
With day/month/year and decimal-point amounts selected, 08/03/2026 SUN becomes 08/03/2026 and (86.45) becomes -86.45. Nothing changes silently: each fix, row omission or review that keeps text unchanged needs its own checkbox. You can download findings before you decide. Proposed line-break replacements use spaces to keep one transaction per line without losing description words or transactions.
Output columns are Date, Description, Amount, or Date, Description, Credit, Debit. Intuit's four-column example puts payments in Credit and deposits in Debit. Your bank may use those words differently, so check the mapping.
Format checks, not an import guarantee
The checker flags invalid or inconsistent dates, weekday text, zero-only amounts, numeric-looking descriptions, punctuation needing review, formatted amounts, missing fields, repeated headers, blank rows and possible subtotals. A label alone doesn't prove a row is a subtotal. It also conservatively flags the documented 12-digit amount warning.
Intuit's linked pages warn about special characters without listing them, so this checker doesn't invent a list or erase merchant-reference digits. Numeric-only descriptions need correcting in your source. Keeping meaningful digits or punctuation requires acknowledging a warning, but QuickBooks may still reject them.
Reading a file doesn't mean it passes format checks, and passing isn't a QuickBooks import. Nor is it a statement arithmetic check, ledger reconciliation or proof a document is authentic. The tool doesn't connect to your accounting account, detect existing imports, categorize entries or infer credit-card signs.
Which files fit, and when to split them
The checker accepts UTF-8 CSV or text up to 5,000,000 bytes, for one account and currency. Amounts beyond two decimal places block export because they're never rounded. Years must have four digits; the tool won't guess the century. CR/DR suffixes and negative split-column amounts need review against your source outside this exporter.
Intuit's manual-upload page, updated August 24, 2026, requires English transaction lists of 350 KB or less, with up to 1,000 lines and one transaction per line. It doesn't define KB or say whether headers count, so this tool conservatively allows 350,000 UTF-8 bytes, including the three-byte byte-order mark, and 1,000 physical lines including the header. That leaves at most 999 transactions per approved file.
Oversize output can split at date boundaries with your approval and a header per file. The input must be chronological for this to work. When one date exceeds a limit, export stops rather than silently splitting or dropping that day, so you'll need to split it manually at a recorded row boundary. Each batch shows dates, counts, bytes and exact amount-column totals.
Your file can't reveal plan, country, account or subaccount restrictions. Intuit's linked error pages also give different subaccount instructions, so confirm your setup with Intuit rather than changing a live bank feed just to get a file accepted.
Your file stays in this tab
File contents stay in this tab's memory, with no file-content network requests or browser storage. To clear active work, use Clear contents or reload: navigating away and pressing Back can restore it. Downloads start only through a download button and never overwrite your original.
With your separate approval, corrected-file exports add an apostrophe before text that could be a spreadsheet formula. Findings-report text is protected too, while valid negative amounts stay numeric. Because spreadsheet behavior varies, inspect the downloaded text and never enable unexpected formulas.
