Organise records
Tax-year bucketer
Put bank CSV rows into the year you choose, with the exact start and end dates beside each transaction. April 5 and April 6 belong to different UK individual tax years. This free organizer handles that boundary without deciding what belongs on your tax return.

The example uses two fictional UK rows on either side of April 6. It replaces any current input. Clear removes the active input; Back navigation may restore uncleared input.
UTF-8 .csv or .txt, up to 5 MB. File contents never leave this tool.
Choose the preset you need, not the country suggested by a currency. The tool labels dates; it cannot decide which accounting or tax rules apply to you.
Year buckets
- File read:
- Waiting for a file or pasted rows.
- Format checks:
- Not run. Choose and confirm the settings.
- Calculation:
- Not calculated.
Limit: 5 MB, 10,000 data records and 100 columns per file. Table previews are paged. No filing, deductibility, tax owed, accounting-method, MTD compliance, fraud, authenticity or destination-acceptance judgement.
Pick the date before you pick the year
If your export has both transaction and posted dates, choose which column you want to organize. A purchase made on April 5 and posted on April 6 can land in a different bucket depending on that choice. The tool follows the selected date; it doesn't decide which date you should use for accounting.
Load a CSV or paste its rows, confirm the columns and date format, then choose the US calendar year, UK individual year or Australian individual year. Amounts are optional. If you include them, confirm the number format and signs so money into the account is positive and money out is negative. Totals stay separate for each account and currency.
The fictional example has a 100.00 GBP refund dated April 5, 2026 and a -40.00 GBP purchase dated April 6. With the UK preset, the refund belongs to April 6, 2025 through April 5, 2026, with a net of 100.00 GBP. The purchase belongs to April 6, 2026 through April 5, 2027, with a net of -40.00 GBP. The refund stays on its own date, even if the original purchase was in an earlier year.
Australian rows dated June 30 and July 1 split the same way at the July boundary. US calendar rows split between December 31 and January 1. Every label prints the full inclusive dates, rather than an ambiguous abbreviation such as “FY26.”
A year label is not a tax conclusion
Use the result to sort records for a spreadsheet or a conversation with your accountant. The summary adds only the supplied, readable amounts within each date bucket. Transfers and refunds are still account movements, not automatically income or deductions. Repeated transactions are kept, not deduplicated.
File reading, format checks and calculations have separate statuses. A readable CSV can still contain an invalid date or a blank amount. Unreadable dates, repeated headers, blank records and subtotal-like rows stay in the annotated download as unassigned records. A valid date with an unresolved amount can receive a year label while staying out of the totals. The result lists every exclusion and provides an issues download.
This is not tax filing, a deductibility check, a tax-owed calculation, a filing-deadline calculator or evidence of Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance. It doesn't determine your accounting method or when a receipt or expense should be recognized. It gives no tax, accounting, legal or lending advice, and makes no fraud, authenticity or destination-acceptance judgement.
Three calendars, not every reporting period
The presets cover US calendar years, UK individual years beginning April 6 and Australian individual years beginning July 1. They do not cover US fiscal, 52-53-week or short years, Australian substituted accounting periods, or UK business accounting-period treatments. No quarters are inferred. Choose a different workflow if those are the periods you need.
Dates are checked as calendar dates, including leap days, with no timezone conversion. If the date parser removes a trailing time or weekday, you'll see that adjustment in the issues list. Ambiguous numeric dates need an explicit order. Two-digit years use the visible century cutoff, which you can change; four-digit years are less work to review.
One file can contain up to 5 MB, 10,000 data records and 100 columns. Larger files are blocked rather than partly calculated. Amounts use exact decimal arithmetic at the precision you select, with no rounding of source values. Different currencies are never added together. If currencies need different precision, select a common precision that preserves both or organize separate files.
A row in a year does not prove you have the whole year. Missing months are unknown, and quiet days aren't evidence of complete records. Use the statement coverage checker for the statement periods you can actually document.
Where the year boundaries come from
We opened these official pages on October 17, 2026. They define the calendar boundaries used here; they do not establish which preset or recognition rule applies to your transactions.
- IRS: Tax years defines a calendar year as January 1 through December 31 and distinguishes fiscal and short years. Its page says “Page Last Reviewed or Updated: 27-Jan-2026.”
- GOV.UK: Estimate your Income Tax for the current year, which links to HMRC's service, gives the current individual year as April 6, 2026 through April 5, 2027. The retrieved page metadata says it was updated September 30, 2026; that is a metadata date, not a displayed change notice.
- ATO: Preparing your tax return says the income year runs from July 1 to June 30. It was last updated April 27, 2026.
The IRS recordkeeping guidance, also opened October 17, recommends organizing supporting documents by year and type. A bucketed bank CSV is an organizing aid, not a replacement for the receipts, invoices or other evidence you may need.
What happens to your file
Your file and the values you enter are processed in this browser tab. They are not uploaded or sent to analytics. We do not save them between visits. Downloads you choose to save remain on your device.
Use Clear to remove active input and results. Leaving the page is not a clearing action: Back navigation may restore uncleared input. Clearing the tool is not secure deletion of your device's history or saved downloads. Your original file is never overwritten.
The default download is a spreadsheet-safe copy with an apostrophe before formula-like text cells. Parsed negative amounts remain numbers. You can instead choose a faithful machine-processing copy, which preserves original cell values but must not be opened directly in a spreadsheet because those values could be treated as formulas. Neither mode removes sensitive descriptions or account labels, so inspect the copy before sending it to anyone.
If the older years are only in PDFs
Already have a bank CSV? This tool is free. Only have PDF statements? First check your bank's native export or any included extraction option. AnyStatement can convert PDFs into reviewable transaction data. Check those extracted dates and amounts against the statements before using this organizer.
